The Story Behind INTRVL
There was a time when this place was called Sapphire Haven.
The name came naturally at first. Sapphire blue tones were woven throughout the home, inspired by a stone in Bex’s wedding ring — something deeply personal that quietly shaped the design of the space. Back then, the property felt like an extension of us: a beautiful desert escape where friends and family could gather, slow down, and experience Joshua Tree together.
And in many ways, it still is.
But over time, something shifted.
As more people came through the property, we began noticing something bigger happening here. Guests weren’t just booking a weekend getaway or a place to stay near the national park. They were arriving in moments of transition. Some came to celebrate birthdays, engagements, or weddings. Others came to reconnect with friends they hadn’t seen in years. Some arrived burned out from work, quietly searching for space to think clearly again. Others came simply because they felt the need to step away from the noise for a few days and remember what it felt like to breathe deeply.
The house became part of those moments.
We watched people gather around the fire pit long after midnight conversations should have ended. We watched guests try yoga for the first time in the Mystic Lounge. We watched couples make life-changing decisions here. We watched families spend uninterrupted time together in ways that felt increasingly rare outside these desert walls.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, we realized this place had become more than Sapphire Haven.
It had become an interval.
A pause between one version of life and the next.
That realization changed the way we thought about the property entirely.
INTRVL was born from the understanding that life moves in seasons. Some seasons are expansive and energetic. Others are uncertain, reflective, or transformative. But no matter where people find themselves, there is value in intentionally stepping away long enough to see clearly again.
Not to escape life — but to return to it differently.
That philosophy now shapes every part of the property.
The spaces designed for movement and energy. The quiet corners built for stillness. The sauna and cold plunge plans. The wellness-focused homes still to come. Even the desert itself — vast, grounding, and slightly disorienting in the best possible way — became part of the experience we wanted to create.
We stopped thinking about the property as a vacation rental and started thinking about it as a place people could return to through different chapters of their lives.
A place for what comes next.
That’s also why we intentionally removed much of the original sapphire blue from the home as the brand evolved. The property no longer represented a single personal story — it became a shared space for many stories to unfold. The palette softened into earth tones, blacks, greys, and natural textures that felt more grounded in Joshua Tree itself.
Today, INTRVL continues to evolve alongside the people who stay here.
There are still more homes to build. More wellness spaces to create. More gatherings, celebrations, conversations, and turning points waiting to happen here. But the heart behind the property remains the same as it was from the beginning: to create intentional space for people to pause long enough to reconnect with themselves, the people around them, and the life they’re building.
Because every season deserves an interval.
